Product Description

NAN (Nestlé And Nutrition) is a leading global infant formula brand, developed by the Nestlé Research Center, one of the world’s largest private research organizations in nutrition and health, with over 150 years of expertise. The name NAN comes from “Nestlé” and “Alimentation,” reflecting the brand‘s focus on early‑life nutrition and feeding. Rooted in decades of pioneering breast milk research, NAN formulas combine cutting‑edge nutritional science with gentle, high‑quality ingredients to support healthy growth, immunity, and cognitive development in babies from birth to toddlerhood.

The brand offers a comprehensive product matrix covering standard routine formulas and specialized clinical nutrition lines. Each formula is adapted to the changing nutritional needs of a growing child, using a unique set of patented technologies.

Key Ingredient Technologies – What Makes NAN Different?

• OptiPro™ Optimized Proteins: A precise blend of high‑quality whey and casein proteins designed to provide the right amount and quality of protein needed for your baby’s growth, while being gentle on their developing digestive system.

• Bifidus BL Active Probiotics: Live beneficial bacteria (Bifidobacterium lactis) that help support a healthy gut microbiome, promote digestive health, and contribute to the normal function of the immune system.

• DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) & ARA (Arachidonic Acid): Essential fatty acids that support normal brain and eye development. DHA contributes to normal brain development of breastfed infants.

• 2’‑FL HMO (2’‑Fucosyllactose): A Human Milk Oligosaccharide structurally identical to the most abundant one found in human breast milk. It helps support immunity, nourishes beneficial gut bacteria, and works with Bifidus BL to strengthen the baby‘s natural defenses.

• 5 HMO Blend (SupremePro): An exclusive blend of 5 types of milk oligosaccharides (MOs), including 2’‑FL, DFL, LNT, 3’‑SL, 6’‑SL, structurally identical to those found in breast milk, delivering broad immune support.

• Lactose as Primary Carbohydrate: NAN uses lactose, the same carbohydrate sugar found in breast milk, as the main energy source. Specialized lines replace lactose with alternatives for specific clinical conditions.

• OptiPro HA (Hypoallergenic): Contains partially hydrolyzed whey protein to reduce the risk of developing allergies in infants with a family history of allergy.

• No Added Palm Oil & Non‑GMO: NAN opts for high‑quality vegetable oils (high‑oleic sunflower, coconut, rapeseed) to provide healthy fats without the use of palm oil, and most products use non‑GMO ingredients.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What does NAN stand for?
A: NAN stands for “Nestlé And Nutrition”, reflecting the brand‘s focus on early‑life nutrition and feeding, developed by the Nestlé Research Center.

Q: What is the difference between NAN OptiPro and NAN SupremePro?
A: OptiPro features OptiPro™ optimized proteins, 2’‑FL HMO, and Bifidus BL probiotic. SupremePro takes it a step further with an exclusive blend of 5 HMOs (2’‑FL, DFL, LNT, 3’‑SL, 6’‑SL) for broader immune support, plus the same OptiPro™ and Bifidus BL.

Q: Is NAN suitable for babies with cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA)?
A: The standard NAN OptiPro and SupremePro lines contain intact cow‘s milk proteins and are not suitable for infants with diagnosed CMPA. For prevention in at‑risk infants, choose NAN HA(hypoallergenic), which is clinically proven to reduce the risk of developing allergies. However, HA is not for infants with already diagnosed cow’s milk allergy. For diagnosed CMA, consult your pediatrician about specialized hypoallergenic formulas (e.g., Enfamil Nutramigen or Neocate).

Q: Is NAN available in ready‑to‑feed (liquid) format?
A: Primarily, NAN formulas are available in powder format. However, some NAN products are available in sachets (single‑serve powder) for convenience, and specific markets may offer ready‑to‑feed liquid options for hospital use.

Q: Does NAN contain palm oil?
A: NAN formulas do not contain added palm oil. Instead, they use a blend of high‑quality vegetable oils (high‑oleic sunflower oil, coconut oil, rapeseed oil) to provide healthy fats.

Q: Is NAN halal or kosher certified?
A: Halal and kosher certification vary by region and production batch. In South Africa, NAN OptiPro Gold is certified Halal and Kosher. Contact us for current certification status in your destination market.

Q: How much formula should I feed my baby?
A: Feeding amounts vary by age, weight, and appetite. Consult the feeding guide on the package or your pediatrician. A typical newborn may take 60‑90 ml per feed, 6‑8 times per day, while a 6‑month‑old may take 180‑240 ml per feed, 4‑5 times per day.

Q: Does NAN contain DHA and ARA?
A: Yes. All NAN formulas are enriched with DHA and ARA from sustainable sources (algae and fish oil) to support brain and eye development.

Q: Can I switch between NAN and other formula brands?
A: You can, but it‘s best to do so gradually over several days to allow your baby’s digestive system to adjust. Mix increasing amounts of the new formula with the old formula. If your baby has a known allergy or sensitivity, consult your pediatrician before switching.

Q: Do you supply NAN for hospitals and healthcare institutions?
A: Yes. We supply the full range of NAN formulas in bulk packaging (multi‑packs, BIB, pallets, container loads) to hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and distributors worldwide. Contact us for volume pricing and logistics.
