Rizla (pronounced “Ree-zla”) draws its name from a fusion of the French word for rice (“riz”), the word “la”, and the cross (“croix”) of the Lacroix family crest. In 1865 the process was changed to rice paper, and the brand RizLa+ was born. In 1942, the Lacroix brothers revolutionised the industry by obtaining a patent for attaching a gum strip to rolling paper, forever changing the way smokers roll. What Makes Rizla Blue Unique
Rizla Blue papers are crafted from a premium blend of rice and flax fibres (also described as a rice/flax blend). This creates a lightweight, ultra-thin paper (basis weight ~13-14.5 g/m²) that is significantly thinner and finer than the regular Red or Green Rizla, but not quite as delicate as the extra-thin Silver papers.
The result is a paper designed for those who “take things slow” – it burns slowly, produces very little ash, and offers a “higher taste intensity” that allows the natural flavour of your tobacco or herbal blend to come through, unimpeded by paper taste.
Natural Arabic Gum
Rizla Blue uses only the finest quality natural Arabic gum on their papers. This is not a chemical glue but a natural edible substance derived from the sap of the Acacia tree in Sudan. The gum is 100% vegetarian and organic. It seals perfectly and adds zero chemical aftertaste to your smoke.
